Profiling the economic and business history of NYC
The Team

This project was undertaken in fulfilment of the capstone requirement of the MS Applied Urban Science & Informatics program at New York University’s Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP). Over the span of five months, five degree candidates worked to develop, deploy, and refine the methods detailed on this site. Though we consider this project to be on-going, as there will always be ways of improving upon the outcome, we hope that the progress we have made thus far is of interest to you, and can spark inspiration in anyone who might wish to further our efforts for achieving an improvement in accuracy.
Our Sponsors
NYU Division of Libraries

The primary sponsor for this project was the NYU Division of Libraries. We worked closely alongside Dr. Nicholas Wolf, who was part of the team that completed the initial extraction of these data. He served as our guide and mentor throughout this project, and we are endlessly grateful for his support, wisdom, and willingness to consider our most outlandish ideas.
